Thank you to the parents that came out to support our kindness celebration this morning.  We learned a lot from the mayor but, the one thing we all are going to try and do is 3 acts of kindness.  Rather than do 3 acts of kindness a year, we want to try and do 3 kind things a day.  We were very proud of Abby, Daniel, Abraham and Reese for speaking for our class.

-We finished our math assessment this morning.  Some of us were challenged to see which animals were in the pond if there were 16 feet.

-This afternoon, our buddies shared their planet celebration with us.  Ask me what I learned about our planets.  They are going to do a great job tonight sharing with their familes.

-Thank you to Abraham for bringing in some delicious muffins for us.  That was very kind.

Kindness in Grade one Continues!
Yesterday we started our day with students sharing with a peer what they did over the long
weekend. Students wrote about their weekend with the following sentence starters:

On the weekend I _____.
I went ______.
I saw ______.
I liked _____.

This week we are focusing on the _ink family. Students brainstormed words yesterday and today students recorded words in their Word Work book.

We read a story, "How To Fill Your Bucket" this afternoon.  Many of us came up with some kind things we can do to fill someone's bucket.  Here are some of the ideas we came up with:
-use your manners
-ask someone to play
-give a hug
-give someone a compliment
-say I love you
There were many more that we talked about today.  Ask your child, "How They Can Fill Someone's Bucket?"

Students have been learning and practicing new card games to practice making 10. Ask your child to share the 2 games with you they have been playing individually or with a peer.

We have also started our exploration into how animals survive in the winter. Students shared an "I wonder.." statement about animals in winter.

Students exchange their learning commons books tomorrow if they return their books.

In gym, students are learning some basic hockey skills.

In music, students are learning songs about friendship.
