Kindness in Grade one Continues!
Yesterday we started our day with students sharing with a peer what they did over the long
weekend. Students wrote about their weekend with the following sentence starters:

On the weekend I _____.
I went ______.
I saw ______.
I liked _____.

This week we are focusing on the _ink family. Students brainstormed words yesterday and today students recorded words in their Word Work book.

We read a story, "How To Fill Your Bucket" this afternoon.  Many of us came up with some kind things we can do to fill someone's bucket.  Here are some of the ideas we came up with:
-use your manners
-ask someone to play
-give a hug
-give someone a compliment
-say I love you
There were many more that we talked about today.  Ask your child, "How They Can Fill Someone's Bucket?"

Students have been learning and practicing new card games to practice making 10. Ask your child to share the 2 games with you they have been playing individually or with a peer.

We have also started our exploration into how animals survive in the winter. Students shared an "I wonder.." statement about animals in winter.

Students exchange their learning commons books tomorrow if they return their books.

In gym, students are learning some basic hockey skills.

In music, students are learning songs about friendship.

Save the Dates!

The grade one students would like you to make note of some upcoming special events. We will require volunteers for these activities. All volunteers MUST have a current CBE police clearance in order to volunteer, and therefore we strongly recommend that you complete the paperwork for this A.S.A.P. Please drop by the school office with picture ID to complete this application. If you already have clearance and would like to volunteer, please let you child’s teacher know.

Please note the following dates. Times have yet to be confirmed.

Wet Felting (In-school activity) – April 8th and 9th.
Morning Swimming Lessons (Bus to Canyon Meadows Pool) – May 4th-8th.
