Our Learning:

  • Today, we published our writing about winter.  We included what we "see","feel", "hear", "smell" and "taste".  We made our writing more descriptive by adding juicy words and otamatapaio words, ask me what they are.  We have some creative authors in grade one!
  • In math, we looked at the strategies "subtracting smaller neighbour numbers" e.g. 3-2, 9-8, 10-9, 15-14, and 19-18.  Students practiced by rolling numbers using dice and subtracting the smaller neighbour number.
  • We had gym this morning.  Ask me what we are doing in gymnastics.  Thank you to those students who are wearing loose fitting clothes that are appropriate for gymnastics.  Please continue to wear clothes for gymnastics next week up until February 4th.
  • We had special lunch today, it was Taco time.
  • We worked on the "et" word family this week.  Ask me to show or say many "et" words I know.
  • Today we played "word detective" with a partner.  Many of us were able to find and say many words.
F.Y.I.
  • We hope you saved the date for our "Celebration of Learning" on February 6th!  Please remember to have your child wear a blue or white shirt to the celebration.
  • Please return your child's report card envelope to school. The papers that were contained inside are your copies to keep at home.
  • There is no school for students on Friday, January 31st as it is a PD Day.
